A master musician. On stage, his raw energy, soul and piano fuse into an unforgettable magical experience. Shlomo Gronich is a highly prolific, gifted, multi-faceted artist. He composes classical music, performed by leading ensembles and orchestras in Israel and abroad, as well as pop, jazz, world music, and music for cinema, theater and dance. Among the many prizes and awards he has received is the "ACUM" (Israel Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers) Prize for his contribution to musical life in Israel. He recorded his first LP in 1971 and has since released another 17 records and CDs. Gronich is an exciting performer - as pianist and vocalist - as soloist, and in collaboration with numerous artists. He is one of Israel's most well-known and original musicians. Throughout his extensive musical career he has acquired a reputation as a unique, incomparable artist who creates cross-cultural bridges through his master musicianship. His works are performed by leading artists and musical ensembles in Israel and abroad. He has created unique compositions by commission for the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israeli Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Jewish Symphony Orchestra, The Israeli Camerata, The Galilee Soloists and more. In 1991 Gronich established the Sheba Choir, with immigrant children from the Ethiopian Jewish community. SHLOMO GRONICH & the SHEBA CHOIR perform regularly and have represented Israel throughout the world - at the Zionist Congress in Brussels, at Lincoln Center in New York, for former President Bill Clinton during his visit to Israel, and numerous other historical occasions. Gronich has composed for theatre, ballet and feature films such as: "Over the Sea", "Under the Nose", "Palestine Circus" and more. He has been awarded three Israeli cinema Oscars for film soundtracks. Gronich's special musical relationship with children and youth led him to compose a prayer for peace, "We Bring Peace Upon Us", as the anthem for "Peace Child Israel", a movement of Jewish and Arab youth devoted to peaceful co-existence. In 2006 Gronich founded "Adamai" - a Jewish-Arab musical ensemble - with the Arab vocalist Lubna Salame. "Adamai" gives voice to the need for tolerance, understanding and respect - an island of sanity in the current sea of violence. In addition to his prolific creative musical endeavors, Gronich has published two books of musical scores: "Playing Gronich" - selected songs from his diverse repertoire, and "Mizmor" (Hymns) - traces from Ethiopia through words and melodies. Shlomo Gronich offers a vast repertoire: New program "JOURNEY TO THE SOURCE". This exciting new project presents Biblical and sacred texts set to original music. A moving and unique journey by a non-religious musician to the ancient sources of his identity offers a contemporary musical interpretation of the eternal words of the Bible. Performed with Shlomo Gronich - vocals, piano and Shofar (ancient ram's horn) - with the SHAMAYIM string quartet and Erez Munk on percussion. Additional programs touring: SHLOMO GRONICH & the SHEBA CHOIR - A choir of young Ethiopian Immigrants. TWO GRANDS - A Concert for two Pianos - Shlomo Gronich & Leonid Petashka. TOUCHING HEAVEN - Klezmer Music with Clarinetist Hanan Bar Sela and Harmonica Virtuoso Michal Adler. BEHIND THE NOTES - Shlomo Gronich & Matti Caspi. "Gronich transforms all his wonderful songs, both new and old, to prayer... he is our greatest melodic talent in Israeli music...a wonderful savage..." Chanoch Ron - "Yediot Aharonot" "He is so versatile, he continues to flow with a brilliant musical cargo, full of inventions, a melting pot that overflows on stage as a raging fire.
